What Is the Sport Inclusion Disability Charter?

The Sport Inclusion Disability Charter is a national initiative developed by Active Disability Ireland in collaboration with Sport Ireland. It serves as a guiding framework for organisations aiming to make sport and physical activity more accessible and inclusive for people with disabilities across Ireland.

  • Openness: Cultivating an environment that is welcoming and understanding of all people with disabilities.
  • People: Ensuring staff and volunteers receive training to effectively include individuals with disabilities.
  • Activities: Developing and delivering programs that are inclusive and cater to diverse needs.
  • Facilities: Assessing and modifying venues and equipment to enhance accessibility.
  • Promotion: Actively promoting the inclusive nature of activities through various communication channels.

By signing the Charter, organisations commit to these principles, aiming to remove barriers and promote active lifestyles for people with disabilities.
