Louth Local Sports Partnership Secures €18,000 Through Healthy Ireland Outdoor Swimming Infrastructure Fund

Louth Local Sports Partnership has successfully secured €18,000 in funding on behalf of Louth County Council through the Healthy Ireland Outdoor Swimming Infrastructure Fund to enhance facilities at Clogherhead, Port Beach and Templetown Beach. The funding will support the installation of new lockers and shower facilities, improving the experience for the growing number of sea swimmers using these popular coastal locations.

The Outdoor Swimming Infrastructure Fund, administered through Healthy Ireland, supports the development of infrastructure that encourages participation in outdoor swimming while promoting health, wellbeing and active lifestyles.

Louth LSP worked in partnership with Louth County Council to prepare and submit the successful application, recognising the increasing demand for quality facilities that support safe and enjoyable outdoor swimming opportunities across the county.

Odhrán Doherty, Sports Programme Manager with Louth Local Sports Partnership, said:

“We are delighted to secure this funding through the Healthy Ireland Outdoor Swimming Infrastructure Fund on behalf of Louth County Council. Sea swimming continues to grow in popularity across County Louth, providing significant physical, mental and social health benefits. These improvements will help enhance the experience for swimmers while ensuring our beaches remain attractive, accessible and safe spaces for local communities and visitors alike.”

The funding represents a continued investment in outdoor recreation and aligns with the objectives of Healthy Ireland to support healthier and more active communities. The provision of showers and lockers will improve amenities for regular users and encourage greater participation in outdoor physical activity throughout the year.

Louth Local Sports Partnership would like to thank Healthy Ireland, the Department of Health and Louth County Council for their continued support in developing opportunities that promote physical activity, wellbeing and inclusion across County Louth.
