Local communities across Co. Louth came together to celebrate National Walking Day on Sunday, 27th September, with two fantastic community walks organised by Reaghstown Walkie Talkies and Cooley Connect Well.
The events formed part of the ongoing Walking for All initiative, encouraging people of all ages and abilities to get active, connect with others, and enjoy the many physical and mental health benefits that walking can provide.
Despite some mixed weather forecasts, participants were fortunate to avoid the rain, with many walkers even enjoying spells of sunshine along the routes. The positive atmosphere and strong community spirit were evident throughout the day as participants came together to enjoy the outdoors and support one another.
The walks attracted a great turnout from local residents who embraced the opportunity to stay active while exploring their local areas. Walking continues to be one of the most accessible forms of physical activity, providing a simple way for people to improve their health, meet new people, and strengthen community connections.
A special word of thanks goes to the dedicated volunteer Walk Leaders who organised and led the walks. Their commitment, enthusiasm, and support helped ensure that everyone had a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable experience.
Louth Local Sports Partnership would also like to thank everyone who participated and helped make the celebrations such a success. It is encouraging to see communities across the county continuing to embrace walking as a fun, social, and accessible activity for all.
Congratulations once again to Reaghstown Walkie Talkies and Cooley Connect Well on hosting such successful events and helping to mark National Walking Day in style.
We look forward to seeing many more people stepping out, staying active, and enjoying the benefits of walking together in the months ahead.
